SPX Features Innovative Design in Pellet Venting System
LAVAL, Québec, Canada — The newest product by Security Chimneys™ offers strength, resilience and ease of installation. As interest in clean burning, energy-efficient biomass pellet stoves is renewing throughout North America, Security Chimneys is poised to introduce a new pellet venting system to complement those products. Available in three- and four-inch diameters with a one-inch clearance to combustibles, the SPX system is engineered to be the most durable and easy-to-install pellet vent pipe on the market today.
An especially unique feature of the design is a high-temperature silicone gasket placed at each female joint to eliminate the need for caulking and to improve the ease of installation. From a durability standpoint, the SPX system is composed of 304 stainless steel with a Galvalume® outer casing for improved corrosion resistance and increased performance dependability over a longer period of time.
Additional product features include an insulated wall thimble that prevents cold air intrusion, while retaining the home’s interior heat, an adjustable attic radiation shield to accommodate attic insulation thickness, and a wall support that allows for multiple adjustments, further easing installation.
“North American shipments of pellet fuel appliances were up 161 percent in 2008 and we anticipate this product will be much in demand, especially as our U.S. customer base continues to investigate the advantages of 75 percent efficient biomass stoves that are eligible for the $1,500 tax credit under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,” said Eric Dufour, Security Chimney’s marketing director for research and development. “Because the SPX is built to last with the type of innovative solutions that Security Chimneys is known for, this should be a market leader in its category.”
The SPX is listed with Intertek Testing Services (ITS) and the listing mark is Warnock Hersey. It meets or exceeds the following standards: UL-641; ULC-S609; and ULC/ORD-C441 (standards for Safety Type L, low-temperature venting systems).
