The innovative SM large-diameter chimney from Security ChimneysTM
features 2” of high-temperature blanket material insulation
– twice as thick as the competition – for the highest
level of performance and safety. This enhanced insulation keeps
the flue gases hotter for a better draft in masonry fireplaces.
Despite the hotter internal temperature, the exterior casing runs
at cooler, safer temperatures. As a result, the SM chimney only
requires a 1” clearance to combustible materials. So chase
dimensions are kept to a practical size.
To ensure reliable performance, the SM chimney also features solid
steel couplers – rather than leaving the insulation exposed
between length connections like other chimneys. This helps protect
insulation from water infiltration and maintains insulating properties.
